Happiness, to me, is heating a cup of instant coffee in a microwave and eating roast potatoes instead of white rice. Don’t make me photograph the idea, for the production won’t be as sublime as above. I must say that the place looks very English.

Lovely! Jealous; it’s still winter in Boston, though I did see some crocuses in my mother’s garden a week ago.

Isn’t it amazing how the addition of a handsome fence and a few flowering trees and shrubs can change the nature of an entire area? If I am not mistaken, this spot is in the East Village and was once a litter-strewn scrap of traffic island.

LXIV is right, it’s all about the fence. And, very importantly, the gilt tips. Bloomberg must have taken a page from Mitterand’s — gild the lampposts and the spikes, nothing says luxe like a little gold paint. Add some ormolu to your old city. Would that the same could be done here, where we must count on relentless sunlight for the same effect. And a blur of palm trees for fiiligree.

And what were you saying? Where’s the post?
