¶ Beans had no place on the tables of my childhood. I still don’t know what to do with them. When we go across the street for Mexican, I rarely touch the rice and beans. I don’t really like having beans in my mouth. 

So I sort of stopped reading this when I got to the part about beans. 

The single most salient commonality among all the Blue Zone diets — the diets around the world associated with longevity and vitality — is beans. Beans are really, really, really good for us.

Of course, it’s nothing less than amazing that I’m even alive.
